What this site is
This site connects Bundaberg region home owners, landlords, builders and businesses with local demolition and asbestos removal contractors. When an enquiry comes in, it goes to a contractor who works in the area and holds the licences the job needs.
All work is carried out by appropriately licensed contractors.
Why the guides are here
A demolition is a few days of machine work surrounded by rules most people meet once: the building approval from a private certifier rather than the council, the demolition licence that comes from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland rather than QBCC, the asbestos licence that is separate again, the planning application that a timber house in a character area needs before it can go, the council's road reserve permit, and the tip fees and state levy that decide what the waste costs. Add the ground, which in this region runs from red volcanic loam to river clay within one town, and the question of what is left on the block when the machine leaves is not a small one.
The pages here put the approvals, the licences, the asbestos rules and the waste in one place, in plain words, with links to the sources on each page.
How the rule pages are written
- Everything is dated. Each page describing a rule says when it was written.
- The source is linked. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland for demolition and asbestos licensing and notifications. The Building Act 1975 and QBCC for approvals and the building work that follows. Bundaberg Regional Council for its planning scheme, fees, waste facilities and water and sewer disconnection. Ergon Energy for electricity removal. The Bureau of Meteorology for flood history. The legislation itself for the levy and the penalty unit.
- Where this site and the source differ, the source is right. Stated in the dated box on each rule page.
- Figures are quoted, not promised. Fees, thresholds and dates change. The pages say what the published figure was and point you at the body that sets it.
- Unverified things are said to be unverified. Where a fee or a rule could not be confirmed from a primary source, the page says to ask the certifier or the council rather than guessing.
- You are pointed at the right person. A demolition contractor is not the person to issue your approval, decide your planning application or certify your asbestos clearance.
- Nothing here is legal advice.
What you will not find here
- No testimonials or star ratings.
- No gallery of past jobs. Photographs are illustrative only and do not depict specific jobs.
- No promise about the asbestos. Whether the fibro on a house contains asbestos is decided by a sample, not a web page.
- No prices. Two houses the same size can be priced a long way apart. The cost guide explains what moves the number.
What to expect when you make contact
- You give the suburb, what the building is and what it is made of, roughly when it was built, and a few photos.
- The overlays on the property are checked from the address.
- A contractor comes back to you with questions about access, asbestos and what you want left on the block, then a price range or a time to look.
- A site walk, a written quote, the certifier's approval, the asbestos removal and clearance, the services abolished, then the machine, in that order.
- If a builder's start date, a sale or an insurance claim is driving it, say so up front.

What this site cannot do
It cannot issue a building approval, decide a planning application, certify an asbestos clearance or abolish an electricity connection. Those sit with a licensed building certifier, Bundaberg Regional Council, a licensed asbestos assessor or competent person, and your electricity retailer with Ergon. The site exists to explain the rules and the ground, and to put you in touch with someone who can do the demolition.
Check the current rules before you rely on this
The rule pages on this site summarise how demolition is regulated in Queensland for Bundaberg region property owners. It describes the rules in general terms as they stood in October 2026. Standards, forms, thresholds and fines change.
The authoritative sources are Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, demolition work licence, Building Act 1975 (Queensland), Bundaberg Regional Council, building and planning approvals, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, asbestos removal licences and Bundaberg Regional Council waste disposal fees 2026-27. Where anything here differs from those sources, they are right and we are not.
We are not building certifiers, engineers, planners or lawyers. For what applies to your property, ask a licensed building certifier or ring Bundaberg Regional Council on 1300 883 699.
Accurate at the time of writing, October 2026. Always check the source before relying on it.
